FP7 project ELECTRA

Laborelec participates in the FP7 project ELECTRA “European Liaison on Electricity Committed Towards long-term Research Activities for Smart Grids”

Beginning of November, the FP7 project ELECTRA “European Liaison on Electricity Committed Towards long-term Research Activities for Smart Grids” was officially approved by the European Commission. ELECTRA responds to a FP7 call for integrated European research.

The research project will run during 4 years and will preview among other things the control systems needed after 2035, when renewable and decentralized production will cover more than 50% and when a significant electrification of the charges will become a fact.

Laborelec cooperates with more than 20 renowned research institutes under the EERA institution (European Energy Research Alliance) and is one of the two Belgian partners in this research consortium.

The project is supported by 16 national funding agencies (under which the Flemish government department of Economy Science and Innovation) as well as by ENTSOE, EDSO4SG and ETP SG, and some international organizations, responsible for the distribution and exploitation of the results.

(ENTSOE: European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity)
(EDSO4SG: European Distribution System Operators For Smart Grids)
(ETPSG: European Technical Platform Smart Grids)
