Expert support throughout the life cycle of water process installations

Laborelec helps customers increase the performance and availability of their equipment, while minimizing the costs and environmental impact of their operations. We provide expert assistance at every stage of a power plant’s or industrial installation’s life cycle:

• During design: Our independence from manufacturers ensures objective selection of the most appropriate chemical treatment (including monitoring) and water demineralization techniques. We also offer assistance in drawing up environmental impact reports.
• During commissioning: We assist customers up until the installation start-up (pre-operational cleaning of boilers and heat exchangers, the first batch of steam entering the steam turbine, start-up of the demineralization installation, etc.). We also provide recommendations to ensure efficient operation.
• During operation: We offer recommendations, based on ad-hoc audits and/or regular monitoring of unit performance, to further improve operation. We also assist in staff training.
• In the event of an incident: Laborelec provides effective troubleshooting advice to tackle the root cause of the problem.

Our experts use a wide variety of tools and equipment to carry out diagnoses and provide the best possible advice:

• Laboratory analyses: We have state-of-the-art laboratories in which we conduct in-depth analyses, including our pathogen lab for Legionella pneumophila and Naegleria fowleri analyses.
• On-site measurements: Laborelec has tools to conduct measurements on site, such as the MOBI follow-up unit to measure cooling water quality.
• Software tools, such as the Laborelec Chemistry Expert System (LCES). This tool helps power plant operators efficiently evaluate and control water/steam cycle chemistry issues.
• Pilot installations: The MERADES pilot unit enables cooling water circuit simulations in order to evaluate and optimize cooling water treatments.
